My Blog

I've made a desktop iTunes icon that matches Apple's design for the iPhone/iPad. For anyone who's interested: (cont) (10 hours ago)

PDF files are slow to print

Issue: When printing from any PDF reader (PDF Reader, FoxIt Reader) Windows Print dialog appears after long time

Resolution: This is caused by DEAD printers on your computer. Removing all the extra unused dead printers resolve the issue. To Remove Dead Unreachable printer follow the following steps:

  1. Click “Start” then “Printers and Faxes”.
  2. When the “Printers and Faxes” window appears, right-click on a printer, which you don’t use anymore, and choose “Delete”.
  3. Confirm when prompted.

Now test printing from PDF and you will see Windows Print Dialog Instantly.

Enjoy :-)

Thank you a million times! I have been tolerating untolerable wait times for not only PDFs to open the print dialog box, but ANY image that [I guess] shares some of the attributes of a PDF from the driver’s perspective. I removed a bunch of “unable to connect” printers that only belong on my 2 laptops for remote work and BINGO! You are my hero today!!!!

It worked a treat. Got rid of an old shared printer. Before the fix it took 30 seconds to show the dialog box, now it comes up in 2 to 3 seconds.

    Thanks.

You’re a genius! Your suggested fix worked like a charm. One of the print drivers on the lap top was for an old HP printer. Upon closer inspection, it did not show as “Offline,” but as “Opening.” When I blew it away, the pdf slow to print dialog went bye-bye! :o )
